Asbestos Surveys

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012) sets a legal requirement for owners and occupiers of non-domestic buildings to have an Asbestos Survey and up-to-date Asbestos Register in place.

Asbestos SurveysThese must form the basis of a detailed asbestos management plan that outlines how you intend to monitor and manage any ACMs (asbestos containing materials) that may be present within your premises or estate.

Waverley Energy Assessments has an in-house team of experienced Asbestos Surveyors who are qualified to P402 Proficiency Certificate in Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling as a minimum.

The type of asbestos Survey that is most appropriate will depend on the client/property specific requirements and will be established during the survey planning phase.
Waverley Energy Assessments holds BOHS qualifications for Asbestos Surveys (Inspections) and can advise on all types of asbestos removal enquiries.

Asbestos Surveys and Registers

A key stage in managing asbestos is to identify the location, type, condition and extent of any asbestos containing materials. This can be achieved by conducting an Asbestos Survey. The survey should be in accordance with HSE guidance note HSG264 which describes two types:

  • Asbestos Management Survey (formerly Type 2 Asbestos Survey) Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspected asbestos-containing materials in the building. (Type 1 Surveys are no longer recommended as they do not include sampling of materials.)
  • Asbestos Refurbishment Survey and Asbestos Demolition Survey (formerlly Type 3 Asbestos Survey).

A Refurbishment and Demolition Asbestos Survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out.
